As everyone knows, “publish now” means your post won’t get seen by most people because it will get put in the publish queue right away but won’t get visible until all checks and replication clears, which means it will just appear somewhere way down in the feed. The workaround is to guesstimate a scheduled publish date, but since nobody knows the queue, it’s easy to get this wrong - either unnecessarily long, or you are too quick and don’t get the benefits.
There should be no need for this, since the system knows when it’s ready. We need a function that publishes a post as soon as the status of all its images goes to blue (“scheduled”), because that is by far the most likely use case unless you absolutely MUST minmax your posts for site activity hours. “Now” should probably still be an option, because sometimes you don’t care about the feed and just want an image link to share.
I fully expect this to lead to some posts being stuck forever, but I’d rather babysit the occasional failure than micromanage everything all the time.
