Possibility to log in via single-use code

Many of us use an email client on our mobile devices, so sending a login link via email when we need to log in on a computer doesn't help at all. If it were possible, during the login process, instead of sending a link, sending a short code, approximately 8 characters, to be entered on the computer for login, would be very helpful.
