Contest Model submission vs. Featured improvements

Currently due to popular demand, models cannot be both featured and participate in contests at the same time.

It would be an unfair advantage to be featured, which will put more eyeballs to your content.

But this causes some problems. What if I get something featured, before I post it into a contest? Because I was being slow to submit it to a contest.

Then I can’t do it, and have to contact an admin to sort out the situation for me. It seems like unneeded busy-work for admins.

I suggest:

Request 1: Allow things (resources and images) to be in both featured and contests, but if this happens, the user has to make a choice where they want to be. Contest or Featured.

If the user chooses featured, the model stays in featured but is removed from the contest.

If the user chooses contest, the featured status is removed, and any reactions coming from the featured page (if you have that data), are removed until the contest is done. If this data is not available, all previous reactions are removed until the contest is done. Then restored.

Request 2:

Speaking of contests being done: Once a contest is over, it should not block content from being featured. Currently it still is. So you have to remove it from a contest collection after the contest is done, to feature it. Which is backwards, since now it’s no longer historically displayed as having been in the contest, which makes no sense. It should simply not be an issue to be featured for inactive contests.

Request 3:

Some contests are non-competitive and instead random. The WorldMorph contest for example, is limited to 1 “ticket” per user, and it’s not by vote or popularity. So in this case, being featured and in the contest is not an issue.

I suggest to make contests have a “Competitive”-tag or not, or something like this, where the mutual exclusivity to being featured is made clear.
