Buzz reaction deducted despite clicking Cancel

I noticed the new Buzz button in the reaction field of an image and clicked it, expecting an input UI. Instead, it started ticking up a counter. I tried to click Cancel, which I thought I did and it seemed like the Buzz reset - only for the Buzz points to still be deducted a couple minutes later.

At best, I didn't click soon enough, and this is more likely feedback that there should be an input UI and not simply "eat Buzz when you click this field by accident." At worst, the detection for canceling isn't working correctly. It worked when I tested a second time, but there might be race conditions or something.
