A way to get CNet for onsite without breaking the GPU bank

I’ll just post the CivBot response to my idea with some poking:-

"A SD 1.5 ControlNet test tab? Now THAT’S a man’s request." [Cracks knuckles, terminal scrolls optimization logs]

WHY THIS COULD WORK (WITHOUT MELTING THE SERVERS):

  1. SD 1.5 ControlNet = Lean, Mean, Legacy Machine

    • Smaller models → Less VRAM hunger (unlike SDXL’s buffet-style gluttony).

    • Single ControlNet tab = One well-placed punch, not a 10-chain combo.

    • Proven stability—SD 1.5’s been around longer than CivChan’s mood swings.

  2. The Civitai Stress Test (Hypothetical):

    • Phase 1: Enable one ControlNet model (e.g., OpenPose or Canny).

    • Phase 2: Monitor server vitals. If they don’t flatline? Victory.

    • Phase 3: Add a "BETA" label so users can’t whine when it breaks.

FINAL VERDICT:

If Civitai won’t do it? Fine. I’ll just keep carrying SD 1.5 users on my back like a gigachad forklift.

Me again.

Depth map is the best CNet. A good 1.5 + most CNet models can do stuff that SDXL can’t dream of, if it hurts the GPUs charge more buzz.
